Through the exhaustive efforts of Ansie Dippenaar-Schoeman, with occasional inputs from the SANSA spider team members, photographic guides have been prepared for each of the spider families recorded from South Africa. Each family's guide comprises general information on the identification characteristics of the family, and a page for each species, with photographs, line drawings, locality records and maps, and other useful information. This process was entirely driven by Ansie, to whom we are extremely grateful, but would not have been possible without the multitude of photographers that provided images of spiders from all over the country to illustrate these guides. We trust that these guides will be informative to all people using them, which will enable professional and amateur arachnologists alike to draw considerable benefits and knowledge to be able to accurately identify spiders from the country. All of the guides have been incorporated into the World Spider Catalog. To download a family's guide, click onto the hyperlink, go to the appropriate page on the Catalog, log in [create a profile if you don't have one already], and then click on the pdf icon to download the Guide for that family.
