This year has started off with a fairly large number of scientific papers published during the first four months of 2010. Please continue to send any new papers on African arachnids or including African representatives (preferably pdf's) to haddadcr@ufs.ac.za for addition to the site.
A revised version of Martin Filmer's 1991 book "Southern African spiders: an identification guide" has also just been released. Norman Larsen, associated arachnologist at the Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town, South Africa, revised the text of the original book and added many more colour photographs. This is a useful guide to the common spider families occurring in southern Africa and provides valuable information on their natural history and medical importance. The book is available in most South African bookstores or can be ordered from several online stores.
